MxCC Hosts Engineering Science & Computer Engineering Technology Open House

The field of engineering is rapidly expanding and the need for skilled workers in this area is rising steadily. To meet that need, Middlesex Community College has recently introduced a new associate’s degree, Technology Studies: Computer Engineering Technology, and a revised associate’s degree, Engineering Science. Prospective students can learn about these programs and careers in engineering at the College’s upcoming open house.
At the open house hosted by Dr. Lin Lin, coordinator of the two programs, representatives from engineering schools at the University of Connecticut, the University of Hartford, Central Connecticut State University, and the University of Bridgeport will be speaking about transferring to their universities and the engineering programs at their institutions. From the College, Dr. Steven Minkler, dean of academic affairs, and Dr. Mary Rayappan, academic division director, will also be speaking. Leslie Cummings, human resources director at ESPN, will be speaking to students about what she looks for when hiring engineering graduates.
The open house and information session will be held on October 16 from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. in the Student Lounge at Middlesex Community College, located at 100 Training Hill Road, Middletown. For more information or to register, contact Carolyn Sommer, recruitment and placement coordinator for the Health and Life Sciences Career Initiative, at csommer@mxcc.edu or 860-343-5749.
