Common Council Rejects McMahon for Police Chief Post

For the second time, the Middletown Common Council has rejected Mayor Sebastian Giuliano's appointment of Patrick McMahon for the position of permanent Police Chief. The vote was strictly along party lines. All Democrats voted against the appointment, all Republicans for.

With respect to the rejection of McMahon (again): Apparently Clown College is still in session. What a sad spectacle.

I'd not hold it against McMahon if he told the city of Middletown, in the morning, "Take this job and shove it" (A Johnny Paycheck hit).

Seems to me it's incumbent for the Common Council to acceed to or defer to, the voter's interests (as indicated by the strong support voiced from a broad spectrum of residents). That clearly does not ring true with the Democrat members of the Common Council. It's time for them to GO.

Were there reasons given for the rejection? I truly hope so because if this is about party politics... it has gotten out of hand. I wish people would do their jobs, namely what is best for our community. Playing these games are such a waste. Clearly the politicians in this town have lost site of the priorities of their post. I believe that is true on BOTH sides of the isle.

Maybe it's time for a new party.

To quote a member of the council it is a sad day in Middletown. It appears that tonights meeting was a demonstration of politics as usual in Middletown. I can't help but wonder when people are going to realize that this type of politics isn't healthy for our city. Have no fear though - Dan Drew had a seat right in front of the cameras.
