POSTPONED - Coginchaug River cleanup

Due to the rain and extremely high water, the Coginchaug River cleanup is postponed until Saturday October 9th. It was originally scheduled for October 2nd.

Join the fun, be part of a "source-to-sea" effort, and help clean the river! We are organizing a Coginchaug River cleanup on October 9, 11:00AM - 1:00PM at Veteran's Park in Middletown, as part of the 2010 Source To Sea Cleanup sponsored by the Connecticut River Watershed Council.

Please contact Jane Brawerman if you plan to attend. Also, if you know of anyone else who may be interested, please pass along the information.

Hope to see you there!

Jane

I hauled away as much as I could carry from my neighboring Connecticut River shoreline on a sunny Sunday, October 2nd. There are some visitors to the area who do not appreciate a trash-free environment. Many consume copious quantities of inexpensive beer and leave the containers behind or throw them into a fire pit. Also removed, a full set of clothing. Left behind, a kitchen sink and perhaps, fifty more as-much-as-I can-carry hauls. It was a definite improvement!
