The Fourth Annual Mayor's Ball took place at the St. Clements Castle banquet facility in Portland, raising $10,000 for the Middletown High School Music Program. Officials, city employees and supporters of the music program dined and danced at the gala event.

I've always been perplexed as to why the Mayor of Middletown's ball is held in Portland. Anyone else find this a little bizarre?
I was told that there was no suitable venue in Middletown for such a large group.
No one invited me. How large is this event?
I think the public is invited via a press release to the local papers.
