The Hills Were Alive

Alex Sessoms (as Herr Max Detweiler) shows his comedic flair while playing hide-n-seek with the Von Trapp family children

This afternoon, my family and I enjoyed the final performance of The Sound of Music in the new auditorium at Middletown High.

We loved our front row seats, because we could peek down at Marco Gaylord and his excellent pit orchestra, which was a mix of local adults and MHS music students.

It was a great performance to a full house, and the kids on stage all seemed to be having a lot of fun. Special kudos must go to their vocal teachers, as all the singers held their own with the score. The opening chorus of nuns singing in full harmony was just, well, heavenly.
